Johannesburg; 15 January, 2007: Internets Solutions, a leading converged communications services provider, has upgraded its ftp site - ftp.is.co.za - to a whopping 8TB of storage space and completely replaced the old platform.
“This has allowed us to take on new shareware mirrors and provide a better service to the South African community,” says Anthony Southgate, marketing executive at IS. “Slow transfer rates are now a thing of the past.”
Users will find the following distributions on the site:
Linux Distributions; Suse, OpenSuSE, Redhat, Fedora, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Debian
BSD Based Distributions; FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD
Other Mirrors include Apache, CPAN and ISC with new software being added constantly.
Southgate continued; “Monthly downloads average in excess of 1.4 TB of data, of which more than 1 TB was to South African users. Our role here is to add value to the South African community by providing a local ftp service that rivals those seen internationally and providing fast, cost effective downloads.”
Suggestions for new sites can be mailed to ftp-admin@is.co.za
