Dedicated access is one that is available 24 hours a day between two communication points granting full Internet and e-mail services at the prescribed service level. It has no interruptions and is exclusive to the designated owner of the line.
Dedicated links are recommended for organizations that are heavy browsers and need to upload/download data from the Internet frequently.
Dedicated links further allow the users on the network to have Remote Access Service (RAS), which makes it possible to dial into the organizational LAN from a remote location, such as your home, as opposed to dialling into our server.
A dedicated link requires the following equipment:
In the case of a lease line:
- 1 Router and 1 Data Terminal Unit (DTU), or
- 1 Webranger that performs the same functions as a router and a DTU.
